A group of friends have a Bollywood night out to celebrate a special birthday
If you are looking for somewhere to have a Christmas or birthday celebration with a group of friends, Bollywood has all the ingredients for a great night out.
This spacious restaurant can easily accommodate a large group of friends, family or work colleagues, with ample waiting staff to take care of everyone.
If you are in celebration mood, you may decide to try something you haven't had before from the menu like I did during my night out at Bollywood last week. Following recommendations from Amin, the owner of Bollywood, I had the Sula Salmon to start with followed by one of the Chef's Specialities, Murg Sagrana for my main course. The Sula Salmon smelt delicious as soon as it was put in front with me and the flavour was lovely. The gently spiced, tender chunks of salmon were presented on a skewer with tomatoes and peppers and made a very nice start to my meal. My partner Keith chose 'Chicken 65' - which he found nice and spicy but not too hot.
My main course, Murgh Sagrana, is one of Bollywood's best dishes, according to waiter Khan. This chicken dish is unique to Bollywood and I soon discovered why it is so popular. The sauce was sweet, creamy and gently spiced, perfect for anyone who prefers a milder curry. Keith had the Chef's Special Chicken Curry and when I asked him what he thought of it he said: "This would probaby come top of my list of favourite Indian foods - it's spicy and juicy and has a really nice consistency." I could tell he was pretty impressed!
As side orders we had Spicy Begun, nice juicy aubergine cooked Bengal style and Sabzi Curry, a very good vegetable curry.
With one portion of mushroom rice and one naan bread between us, we had more than enough food as the portions were nice and generous.
The bottle of Chardonnay Semillon was enjoyed by us both, selected for its description in the wine list as being 'Great with curry'! This restaurant is very popular and busy, so be sure to book soon if you want to celebrate Christmas Bollywood style!
