On Thursday 18th November the Whyteleafe 'Helping Hands' organisation held its sixth Annual General Meeting in the function room of The Whyteleafe Tavern when Tandridge District Councillor Sakina Bradbury was re-elected as Chairman. Lordlord of The Whyteleafe Tavern, Tom Dempsey and Cllr. Bradbury started the group which was set up to give practical assistance to those in need in the local community. During the meeting, Tom said: "In Ireland where I come from communities are very close knit and there is always help on hand if someone needs assistance, for example, with a lift to hospital. Sakina and I wanted to recreate that community spirit in Whyteleafe which is why we set up 'Helping Hands'. If you would like to find out more about the services provided by the 'Helping Hands' volunteers or would like to become a volunteer helper yourself, call Sakina Bradbury on 01883 343417.
