Christmas is around the corner and, in true festive spirit, the Salvation Army is inviting the public to donate new gifts for children whose families may be finding it difficult to celebrate Christmas this year. Unwrapped gifts can be left at the Superdrug store in Church Walk, Caterham or at the Centre Manager’s office.

The Salvation Army is unable to take second-hand items, but would welcome new gifts for children aged 0-16. All types of toys and games will be gratefully received, but the Salvation Army says it would be helpful if people could avoid donating cuddly toys, as they are usually inundated with them!

Chris Sandford from Caterham Salvation Army said: "Things are pretty tough for a lot of people and their families at the moment thanks to the difficult economic climate and we are very grateful to everyone who is supporting our appeal.

We will be collecting the toys until December 18th and then we will distribute the toys through our network of health visitors, children’s centres and the social services."
