Marie Curie Cancer Care hopes to make the holiday season brighter with its annual Lights to Remember celebration. Families and friends all across the UK will come together and shine a light to commemorate people they have lost. Each light is sponsored in memory of a loved one and to support the vital work of the local Marie Curie Nursing Service. On December 5th, at 4 pm Marie Curie is holding a Lights to Remember event at St. John's Church, Clareville Road, Caterham. Everyone is welcome and the service will include Christmas carols sung by Woodlea Primary School, Woldingham, traditional readings, mince pies and mulled wine. Even if you are not able to attend the service, you can still sponsor a light on the Christmas tree, which will be placed inside the church. By sponsoring a light on the tree, you will be helping care for more terminally ill patients in the place of their choosing during the festive period. The local Lights to Remember service is just one of many taking place across the UK this Christmas. As you remember your loved ones, thousands of others nationwide will also be sharing their precious memories, making it extra special. For more details on your local event or to make a donation, please contact your local Community Fundraiser, Tracey North, on 01883 832649. Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing, totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of being cared for at home, supported by their family and friends. The 2,200 Marie Curie Nurses are committed to providing the very highest standard of hands-on nursing care, whilst also giving emotional support to the patient's family at what can be the most exhausting of their live. Marie Curie nurses provide practical nursing care to people with cancer, 365 days of the year, free of charge. |
