The Creative Team at The Arc are delighted to announce details of their first full-scale production this December. "The Snow Queen", will be the first professional show at The Arc since re-opening and will have two shows a day starting from 22nd December - 30th December (no shows 24,25,26th December). An evil troll and his troll helpers create a mirror that has the power to reflect only the bad and the ugly. In this mirror even the most beautiful landscapes look like boiled spinach! One day the mirror slips from their grasp and shatters into a billion pieces, lodging in people's hearts and freezing them like blocks of ice. Within days the world falls to the power of the evil Snow Queen. Beautiful haunting and funny this new adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's "Snow Queen", written and directed by Artistic Director Beth Wood, is set to delight children and adults alike. Starring in the production are some familiar faces to frequent visitors of The Arc. The hard-working team behind the arts centre will be leaving their usual desks and jobs to don costumes and step into the world of the Snow Queen. Susy Payne, who teaches dance and drama at The Arc and who recently completed a tour of the hit BBC comedy Dinnerladies will be appearing as many characters including the Enchantress and Snow Fairy, while Associate Director Andy Edmeads, who has worked with Hugh Laurie, Rob Brydon and Russ Abbott, will be transforming into a Snow Troll and Mrs Raven! Administrator Hayley Rose will be playing the icy Snow Queen herself while John Soffe puts his years of theatrical experience to good use, playing a wide range of roles in this family show. The professional actor are supported by a fabulous cast of young actors from local schools and youth theatres. "We are all very excited about the Snow Queen at The Arc", said Director Beth Wood. "The costumes are already looking fab and this promises to be an unmissable treat for the whole family and still at the same great value our visitors come to expect at The Arc. We've got an incredibly talented bunch of actors here and with a beautiful soundtrack and mesmerizing set - The Snow Queen is set to be the highlight of a very exciting and busy year for us".
