On Wednesday, 5th January Caterham Round Table members Clive Harper and Simon Edge were proud to present a cheque for £250 to members of the 9th Caterham Guides as the winners of the Round Table 'Build a Guy' competition. The presentation had been scheduled to take place in December, but due to the severity of the weather had to be postponed. Guide leader, Janette Ralph, said: "When we found out we had won we were overjoyed, first at being voted the best and secondly with the money. As a charitable organisation, relying solely on volunteers who graciously give up their time to benefit young girls, this will go a long way to being able to continue to offer the young people a well-balanced programme of activities." Janette added: "We are always looking for adult volunteers so if you are over 18 and willing to give up at least one hour of your time each week please call us for a chat." Likewise, if you are a young man aged 18-45 and are looking to join a group of like-minded men who enjoy life whilst raising funds for local charities and good causes, the Caterham Round Table will be delighted to hear from you. The 9th Caterham Guides meet at St. Mary's Church Hall in Caterham-on-the-Hill every Wednesday between 7-9pm. For more information contact Janette on 01883 349366. The Caterham Round Table meet at the Surrey National Golf Club in Chaldon every second Wednesday. If you are interested in becoming a member, call Scott on 020 8655 8999. |
