On Friday 21st January Mr Sam Gyimah MP attended a reception at Le Personne Homes in Banstead Road, Caterham to officially open the newly-refurbished and extended East Wing. The event marked the completion of the second phase of the project, following the refurbishment of the West Wing in 2009. The homes were originally set up in 1939 by wealthy Caterham resident, Louis le Personne, in memory of his wife Henrietta Frances to provide accommodation for elderly ladies. The East Wing now comprises three new flats and six refurbished flats as well as replacement central heating boilers for the whole building. The project was funded by a grant from the Homes and Communities Agency and a loan from the Co-operative Bank. Trustee of Le Personne Homes, John Rawlings, said: "I would like to thank Rob Richards for masterminding getting the funding for this project. The project progressed as smoothly as the refurbishment of the West Wing, finishing on time and on budget." Before going on a tour of the East Wing, Mr Gyimah said: "I would like to congratulate the trustees for the foresight they had in getting the funding for this phase of the project. There has been a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to make this possible." For more information call Graham Small on 01883 343685. |
