Plans are underway for a giant Royal Wedding Celebration street party in The Village in Caterham-on-the-Hill on Friday 29th April, the day the happy couple will be tying the knot. Ideas being put forward are for the return of the Guards' band, live viewing of the wedding on a large screen television, a fancy dress competition, Morris Dancing, a traditional tea of sandwiches and cakes and lots more. Organiser, Mark Jones of Ridge Radio would like to see local uniformed groups taking part in a parade alongside marching bands - all in a street party atmosphere! Mark said: "The plan is to take over the cricket green or Brigade Place and fly the flags loud and proud! Anyone with ideas or who would like to join our working party is invited along to our meeting next week to help with the planning." The planning meeting is being held at 7pm next Thursday, 10th February at The Arc, Weston Drive, Caterham-on-the-Hill.
