The Caterham and District Rifle Club is in its 105th year with 140 plus full members shooting in the range just off Waller Lane, Caterham. Long range competitions are shot at Bisley. The AGM and prize giving took place at Warlingham Sports Club on Friday 5th October. Some notable shooters were Nigel Toze who won three major trophies (displayed by Nigel in the photo from left to right): The Morris Memorial Shield for the highest match average; The Cranmer Shield for prone .22 rifle knock-out and the Uridge Cup for best 30 scores. Philip Crease was a formidable opponent with the free-standing Light Sporting Rifle, winning the Rapid Fire Tankard and the President's Shield for the highest match average. Miss Feyja Chapman won the Alfred Price Cup (.22 rifle breakable disc knock-out) – a thrilling neck and neck tie shoot decided the outcome. Junior member Jonathan Barnes took the Captain's Cup with the highest combined scores in air rifle prone, standing air rifle and match air pistol. Tom Stretton once again remained unbeatable winning the Uridge Pistol Trophy. At Bisley Will Daly won the Bisley Cup with the highest average at ranges from 300 to 900 yards. |
