Local rugby club Old Caterhamians have been continuing their 'Good Cause' campaign with a donation to Anrdew Thornley who ran the London Marathon earlier this year to raise funds for cancer charity Marie Curie. The Old Cats are also holding a day of fundraising on Saturday 4th September with `The Guards Return To Caterham`, when some of the last guards stationed in Caterham Barracks return for a day at the rugby club where they will play against the club team. Kick-off will be at 3pm. The club in Park Avenue, Caterham on the Hill will be open to the public from 11am. The army recruitment team will be there to entertain along with side stalls, a bouncy castle, beauty treatments, raffles, face painting, a pig roast and many more attractions. The club bar will also be open from midday. The event will close with a black tie/mess dress dinner in the evening. Chairman of the Old Cats, Steve Dalgleish, said: "Please come and welcome back the guards, enjoy the day and help raise funds for Help for Heroes, the Guards Charity and the Royal British Legion." |
